Seinäjoen Energia renews their remote reading system with Aidon's technology
Seiverkot Oy, which is a part of Seinäjoen Energia concern, replaces their oldest remote reading system with Aidon Oy’s third generation technology. The delivery includes a reading system, alongside which the older system will continue until the end of the transition period. New energy service devices can be flexibly installed in different parts of the network, because they communicate through 3G network instead of electricity network.
Almost all metering points in the area have already been connected to the remote reading system. Seiverkot Oy is the first company in Finland to start renewing their remote reading system with new technology which fulfils the future requirements. In the first phase, about 3000 energy service devices will be installed to new metering points and to replace some of the old meters and terminals in blocks of flats.
- We chose Aidon’s solution, because it can be gradually implemented and it does not disrupt the operation of the older system. This is the easiest and the most inexpensive way to switch to new generation remote reading technology, says Antti Koskela, Network Manager at Seinäjoen Energia.
Modern architecture and easily integrable interfaces enable the new system to be started alongside the current one and the old meters to be replaced in the most optimal way, following the needs. Communicating in mobile phone network and using radio technology, Aidon energy service devices can be freely deployed to replace first generation remote reading meters.
- We will partly give up data communication in electricity network, which will make reading more realiable and release space on stations. In addition to remote reading and remote connecting, Aidon energy service devices enable consumer-level network control, says Antti Koskela.
Network management is served by the new devices’ so-called PiHa functionality, which can be implemented as an automatic remote upgrade. When traditional remote readable meters are being gradually replaced with new energy service devices, also network management can be improved by implementing PiHa functionalities in desired metering points.
